Statesville, NC — Iredell Health System is excited to announce the addition of Dr. Mario G. Zapata to the Iredell Physician Network. Zapata will begin seeing patients at Iredell Psychiatry starting on June 16.
Zapata brings nearly 30 years of experience in psychiatric medicine, most of which have been in the Statesville community. He completed his medical training at Cordoba National University School of Medical Sciences in Argentina and his residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, and specializes in addiction and psychosomatic medicine. Zapata is a member of the American Psychological Association and is fluent in English, Spanish, and French.
The long-term partnership between Iredell Health System and Zapata’s private psychiatry practice has served the Greater Statesville community for many years. Becoming part of the Iredell Physician Network was a logical next step.
Patients can expect a wealth of experience, compassion, truth, and empowerment upon their first appointment with Zapata.
“My approach to medical care is empowering my patients to learn about themselves and evolve,” he said. “My goals for them include stability, recovery, and healing.”
In his free time, Zapata enjoys traveling, dancing, pickleball and spending time with his two children. His favorite healthy tip is simple. “Breathe frequently, often, and with attention.”
