Work is progressing on the Downtown Statesville sinkhole repair project. During the excavation process, crews encountered a few unexpected underground elements beneath the roadway. According to city officials, none of these findings have caused significant delays, and crews have been able to adjust and continue work as planned.
Due to recent weather impacts, the contractor requested and received a six‑day extension to the original contract timeline. The new substantial completion date is now set for July 17, 2025.
The city expressed its appreciation for the public’s patience as crews work to complete the project and safely reopen this section of Downtown Statesville.
