Dorothy Jarvis Tucker

A true middle child, Dorothy was the seventh of 13 born to Clarence and Polly Mae (Nicholson) Jarvis of Union Grove, NC in northern Iredell County. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Ferriaola, and Carolyn Morgan, and by three brothers, Wayne Jarvis, Ronald Jarvis, and Donald Jarvis.

Upon graduating from high school, Dorothy chose a career in nursing. During her nurses training, Dorothy eloped to South Carolina to marry Earl P. Tucker, Jr. Upon returning to Statesville, she and Earl reared two children.

She served as a nurse at Davis Hospital in Statesville for more than 40 years. Her connection to Davis Hospital began even before her nursing career. Dorothy left Pfeiffer College to attend nursing school at Davis Hospital. Dorothy was wholly dedicated to Davis Hospital and her nursing career. She was also devoted to her beloved Carolina Tarheels.

Keeping her memory in their heart and passing her legacy to future generations are her son, Robert Forest Tucker and wife Donna of St. Augustine, FL, her daughter Suzanne Tucker Boggs and husband Chris of Matthews, NC, and her four granddaughters Kirby Tucker, Shelby Tucker, Taylor Boggs Pleiman and husband Nick, and Emma Boggs.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Dorothy will be officiated by her son-in-law, Chris Boggs on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville. The family will receive friends for 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will be private.
