He attended seminary school in San Antonio, Texas then enrolled in the United States Air Force where he became a pilot. Don met the love of his life, Loretta Fese at St. Ferdinands Church in California, and they were married for 60 beautiful years. Don and Loretta enjoy traveling all over the world together, visiting friends and family while making new friends.
He was an active Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America until his son became an Eagle Scout, and also was a Fourth Degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Loretta.
Donald is survived by his son, Donald Landy, Jr; and daughters, Donna Smith (Claude) Diane Simons (Scott) and Deborah Plotkin (Dave); 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and his 2 youngest siblings: Mary Waymire and Mike Landy.
Don will be missed by friends and family across the country, from coast to coast. The Family is comforted knowing that that he is with our Lord and his wife and family that preceded him.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m. at St Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville, NC. A private interment with military honors will be held at a later date, at the San Fernando Mission Cemetery in California.
