Troutman, NC – On Sunday, February 2, 2025, deputies from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic dispute at 130 Skyuka Road in Troutman. Upon arrival, officers encountered Bradley Gage Johnson, who had a history of domestic violence-related charges involving the female victim, Heaven Jones.

Sergeant J. Smith, who recognized Johnson’s white Saturn Ion, was aware that Johnson’s pretrial release conditions prohibited any contact with Jones. Upon observing Jones visibly agitated and approaching Johnson aggressively, deputies made the decision to temporarily detain Jones in the back of a patrol vehicle to ensure safety and conduct an investigation.

While deputies were attempting to question Johnson, he fled on foot. During the chase, Johnson forcibly entered the patrol vehicle where Jones was seated and drove off. Deputies immediately initiated a pursuit, which concluded shortly afterward on Rolling Lane in Statesville. After exiting the vehicle, Johnson attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by deputies.

Jones was safely recovered from the patrol vehicle and was unharmed during the incident.

The incident remains under investigation, and additional charges are expected. Johnson was taken before Magistrate H. Callejas and initially received no bond. He is scheduled for his first appearance in Iredell County District Court on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM.

At the first appearance, Johnson was granted a $125,000 bond.
