On December 22, 2024, deputies from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of two women exhibiting concerning behavior in the parking lot of a Food Lion on Old Mountain Road. Concerned citizens contacted law enforcement, suspecting the individuals might be under the influence.

Upon arrival, deputies identified the women as Heather Renee Crawley and Sarah Angela Louise Rash. An infant, secured in a car seat, was also present in the vehicle. During their interaction, deputies observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, prompting a search.

The search uncovered approximately 9.43 grams of fentanyl and other Schedule IV narcotics in Crawley’s possession, while Rash was found with 0.4 grams of fentanyl. Fentanyl, known for its potency and associated health risks, posed a significant danger, particularly to the infant. Deputies immediately ensured the child’s safety by removing them from the scene.

Both women were arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. Authorities have emphasized their dedication to combating drug-related crimes and safeguarding vulnerable individuals, particularly children, in the community.
