Deputies in Iredell County have arrested a store employee on multiple charges following an investigation into a reported larceny at a Harmony business.
Deputy A. Chapman and Deputy J. Raper responded to the Harmony IGA after receiving a report of an employee allegedly involved in theft. Upon arrival, deputies conducted an investigation and gathered sufficient evidence to obtain two warrants for larceny by an employee against the suspect, identified as Billie Jo Sanford.
The following day, Deputies Chapman and Raper returned to the store and located Sanford. The deputies served the warrants and placed Sanford under arrest. During the arrest, deputies discovered multiple baggies containing methamphetamine and a glass methamphetamine pipe in Sanford’s possession. Sanford was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center for processing.
Upon arrival at the detention center, additional narcotics were found in Sanford’s possession, prompting an expansion of the investigation. Deputies then conducted a follow-up at the Harmony IGA, where further review of store records, surveillance footage, and witness statements led to the issuance of seven additional counts of larceny by employee.
Sanford appeared before Magistrate Imes, who issued a no bond ruling in the case. She remains in custody at the Iredell County Detention Center as the investigation continues.
