Easton, PA – For the first time in its 122-year history, Crayola is reintroducing eight retired crayon colors, responding to years of fan requests. The Limited Edition Retired Colors 8-Count Crayon Pack will include nostalgic favorites such as Dandelion, Blizzard Blue, Magic Mint, Mulberry, Orange Red, Violet Blue, Lemon Yellow, and Raw Umber.
The decision to bring back these colors—some of which have been absent from crayon boxes since 1990—marks a milestone for the brand. According to Crayola, the move aims to celebrate its rich history while expanding its color palette for a new generation.
“As a first in the history of Crayola, we could not be more excited to bring back this beloved Limited Edition color collection that will give kids even more opportunities to colorfully put their imagination into action,” said Victoria Lozano, Crayola’s Chief Marketing Officer.
Alongside the crayon pack, Crayola will offer the retired colors in new formats, including Limited Edition Collection Colored Pencil and Marker packs. The collection will be available throughout 2025 at most national retailers, with additional themed products such as activity kits and coloring books.
To further celebrate the re-release, Crayola is partnering with brands such as Lee, Caboodles, and S’well to create custom programs and products inspired by the returning colors. The company also hints at additional Limited Edition surprises during key moments throughout the year, including back-to-school and holiday seasons.
A recent survey conducted by Crayola in partnership with the Ad Council Research Institute found that 90% of parents believe color plays a significant role in fostering creativity and child development. Crayola hopes this initiative will continue to inspire creativity in children and adults alike.
The Limited Edition Retired Colors collection is expected to be a popular release, bringing both nostalgia and fresh creative opportunities to fans of all ages.
