A vehicle crash on southbound I-77 in Iredell County caused significant traffic disruptions Wednesday morning, April 9.
The incident occurred near mile marker 52, approximately one mile south of Exit 51 for I-40, close to the Statesville area. As a result of the crash, the three right lanes of the highway were closed, leaving only one lane open to traffic.
According to transportation officials, the closure began at approximately 6:40 a.m. and is expected to last until around 10:45 a.m. The impact on traffic has been classified as high, with drivers experiencing substantial delays in the area.
Motorists traveling through the region are advised to seek alternate routes and allow extra time for their morning commute.
