Bryan A. Corbett has resigned from his position as an Iredell/Alexander County District Court judge. Corbett, a graduate of Alexander Central High School, submitted his resignation to Chief District Court Judge Edward Hedrick IV last week, citing personal reasons. He has not provided further details regarding his decision.
Corbett was first elected to the bench in 2020 after winning a contested Republican primary for a newly created District Court judgeship. He ran unopposed in both the 2020 and 2024 general elections.
The governor will appoint a temporary replacement to serve until the next general election in 2026. Before his election to the judiciary, Corbett was the managing partner of Harbinson, Brzykcy & Corbett, Attorneys at Law, LLP, with offices in Taylorsville and Statesville.
