Statesville, N.C. — Families from across Iredell County gathered on Thursday for the 92.9 WAME Back to School Bash at Yokefellow Ministries, a community-focused event aimed at helping students and parents prepare for the upcoming school year.

Hosted by local radio station 92.9 WAME, the event featured free school supplies, music, games, and prize giveaways. Volunteers distributed backpacks filled with essential classroom items like notebooks, folders, and pencils to ensure local students had what they needed to start school strong.

“This is about more than just giving out supplies,” said a WAME representative. “It’s about building community and letting families know they’re not alone.”

Representatives from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, Statesville Police Department, and Statesville Fire Department were also on hand, connecting with families and showing their support for local youth.

In addition to school supplies, the event included music from WAME’s on-air personalities broadcasting live, along with local vendors and organizations offering resources on health, wellness, and youth services.

Yokefellow Ministries, a longtime supporter of families in need across Iredell County, partnered with WAME to host the event on its campus. Executive Director of Yokefellow Ministries praised the collaboration, calling the bash “a true reflection of community coming together to lift each other up.”

This was the fourth year for the Back to School Bash, made possible through the efforts of dozens of volunteers and local sponsors.
