STATESVILLE, N.C. — The City of Statesville has released its updated holiday closing schedule, revised sanitation routes, and a full slate of festive community events planned for the 2025 holiday season.
Holiday Closings & Sanitation Schedule Adjustments
City offices will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s holidays, with modified residential sanitation schedules as follows:
Thanksgiving Holidays – November 27–28, 2025
- Tuesday & Wednesday routes: Collected Tuesday
- Thursday & Friday routes: Collected Wednesday
Christmas Holidays – December 25–26, 2025
- Tuesday & Wednesday routes: Collected Tuesday
- Thursday & Friday routes: Collected Wednesday
New Year’s Day – January 1, 2026
- Thursday & Friday routes: Collected Friday

Christmas Events in Downtown Statesville
The City of Statesville and the Downtown Statesville Development Corporation invite the community to enjoy two festive evenings downtown:
- Christmas Tree Lighting: Thursday, December 4, 2025
- Downtown Shop & Stroll: Friday, December 5, 2025

Greensboro Symphony Orchestra Returns for Holiday Pops
The Greensboro Symphony Orchestra will perform its popular Holiday Pops Concert on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Statesville Civic Center. Presented by the City of Statesville and Opus Financial Advisors, tickets are $30 and available online or at the Civic Center and the Statesville Fitness & Activity Center.
SPD “Fill the Trailer” Toy Drive Underway
The Statesville Police Department is collecting new, unwrapped toys for children ages 0–17 through December 19, 2025. Donations can be dropped off at SPD Headquarters at 330 S. Tradd Street.
Residents may also contribute via the Amazon Wishlist or donate during Walmart Collection Days on December 6 and December 13 from 12–4 p.m.
Free Leaf Bags Available
To support fall cleanup efforts, the City is offering free 60-gallon leaf bags through December 5, 2025, with a limit of one roll per household. Up to two additional rolls may be purchased for $1 each through December 22.
