by | Dec 23, 2025

STATESVILLE, N.C. — The City of Statesville is currently under a Stage D1 Moderate Drought condition, as declared by the North Carolina Drought Management Advisory Council. The designation follows an updated North Carolina Drought Advisory based on data from the U.S. Drought Monitor of North Carolina issued December 18, 2025.

In accordance with city code and the Water Shortage Response Plan, the City of Statesville is implementing a voluntary lawn and landscape irrigation schedule aimed at managing water use during the drought. Residents are encouraged to follow the recommended schedule.

For odd-numbered street addresses, voluntary irrigation is recommended Tuesday from 8 p.m. to Wednesday at 8 a.m., and Saturday from 8 p.m. to Sunday at 8 a.m. For even-numbered and unnumbered addresses, watering is recommended Thursday from 8 p.m. to Friday at 8 a.m., and Sunday from 8 p.m. to Monday at 8 a.m.

City officials are also encouraging residents to voluntarily reduce residential vehicle washing during this period.

The city will continue monitoring drought conditions and will take additional steps as deemed necessary by the North Carolina Drought Management Advisory Council. If further action is needed to meet water use goals, additional voluntary conservation measures may be announced, or mandatory water conservation measures may be implemented at city facilities.

The City of Statesville’s Water Shortage Response Plan is available on the city’s website at https://www.statesvillenc.net/water-resources.
