STATESVILLE, NC – On May 6, city officials, staff members, and project partners gathered at the Statesville Water Treatment Plant to mark the beginning of a major infrastructure improvement effort with the groundbreaking of the Waterline Replacement Project.
The $25.8 million project aims to replace approximately 5.7 miles of aging cast iron waterlines, originally installed in the 1940s. The new infrastructure will include 12-inch and 20-inch waterlines designed to improve the reliability and efficiency of the city’s water service.
Construction is set to begin this month and is expected to continue through September 2026.
City leaders highlighted the importance of the project in strengthening critical infrastructure to meet current and future demands for water service.
