City of Statesville announces New Year’s Day closings, sanitation changes, and upcoming events

The City of Statesville has released several updates for residents as the community heads into the New Year, including holiday closings, changes to sanitation schedules, upcoming meetings, events, and career opportunities.

City offices will be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in observance of New Year’s Day. The Statesville Recreation Center and Bentley Community Center will operate regular hours on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, and will be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

Residential sanitation routes normally collected on Thursday and Friday will instead be collected on Friday during the holiday week. Residents can view the full 2026 City Holiday Closings and revised sanitation schedules online.

The Statesville City Council last met on Monday, December 15, 2025. Residents who missed the meeting can view agendas or watch the full replay online. The next City Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 12, 2026, with the agenda available in advance.

City officials are also encouraging residents to stay informed about current and upcoming road closures and detours by checking the city’s online road closure updates.

Several city-sponsored programs and events are scheduled over the coming weeks. Winter Break Camp will be held on December 22, 23, 29, 30, and 31, 2025. Looking ahead to January and February, upcoming activities include Pickleball 101 classes running January 5 through January 28, Trivia Community Night on January 8, Rock Climbing for homeschool students on January 14, an Adult Day Trip to the Billy Graham Library and South Park Mall on January 19, and a Blood Drive with the American Red Cross on January 29. Other events include Movie Night on January 30, HeArts and Crafts on February 6, the Polar Plunge benefiting Special Olympics Iredell County on February 14, and the Statesville Wedding Expo on February 22.
