MOORESVILLE — A North Carolina Department of Transportation contractor is set to begin replacing a decades-old bridge on Linwood Road over Coddle Creek in Iredell County early next week.
R.E. Burns and Sons Co. Inc., based in Statesville, was awarded a $1.7 million contract for the project. The existing bridge, built 48 years ago, is nearing the end of its service life and will be replaced with a modern structure that includes wider lanes and updated safety features.
Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, Nov. 3. Linwood Road will be closed near Patterson Farm Road as crews start work on the new bridge. A signed detour will direct drivers along Teeter Road, N.C. 152, and Patterson Farm Road.
According to NCDOT, the project is expected to be completed by fall 2026. Officials urge drivers to use caution in the area and allow extra travel time while the detour is in place.
