Two men fishing in the French Broad River on Sunday afternoon discovered what appeared to be a body in the water, prompting a response from local authorities. The incident occurred near the banks of the river just north of Flynn Branch Road in Woodfin, North Carolina.
Around 4 p.m., the Woodfin Police Department, along with other first responders and the medical examiner’s office, arrived at the scene after receiving the report from the fishermen. Upon arrival, responders located a body partially wrapped in debris and mud.
The body was removed from the river and has been transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Raleigh for further examination and identification. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the individual or the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
