Baby Food Sold at Target Recalled Due to Elevated Lead Levels

Fruselva, a Miami-based company, has recalled over 25,000 packages of baby food sold under Target’s Good & Gather brand due to possible elevated levels of lead. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall in March.

The affected product is the Good & Gather Baby Pea, Zucchini, Kale & Thyme Vegetable Puree, sold in 4-ounce tubs and distributed nationwide. The recalled packages include lot number 4167, with a best-by date of December 7, and lot number 4169, with a best-by date of December 9.

Consumers are advised not to feed the recalled puree to infants. While the recall is classified as a Class II—indicating the risk of serious health effects is low—exposure to lead can still pose health concerns. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there is no safe level of lead exposure for children, as it can lead to developmental and cognitive issues.

The FDA continues to monitor the situation, and consumers with the affected products are encouraged to dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.
