Iredell County, N.C. – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol has arrested a Statesville man in connection with a school bus stop violation that occurred on Wallace Springs Road on Tuesday, February 18.
James Allen Jordan, 22, has been charged with passing a stopped school bus, careless and reckless driving, and operating a motorcycle without the proper endorsement.
According to authorities, Jordan was traveling north on Wallace Springs Road on a motorcycle when he illegally passed a stopped school bus that had its warning lights activated and stop arm extended as children were exiting. Reports indicate that the motorcyclist nearly struck the children before continuing north.
Jordan was taken into custody and placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $10,000 bond.
Law enforcement officials continue to emphasize the importance of stopping for school buses to ensure the safety of children.
