The Town of Mooresville has announced an updated detour plan for the Rinehardt Road closure following additional discussions with NCDOT and the project developer. A new detour route has been constructed to support ongoing intersection improvements in the area.
According to officials, the project requires lowering the grade of the existing roadway to connect with a new extension road between N.C. 150 and Rinehardt Road. The original detour would have sent drivers around the closure using N.C. 150 and N.C. 115. After working with NCDOT and the Town of Mooresville, the developer has instead implemented a shorter detour using subdivision streets and temporary access roads.
Beginning December 1, traffic on Rinehardt Road will follow a signed detour through the new neighborhood along temporary roads built by M/I Homes. Message boards have been placed to alert drivers to the updated traffic pattern.
Crews expect to complete the road realignment in early spring. More information is available at ncdot.gov/news.
