Drivers in the Mooresville area should prepare for significant traffic changes beginning Monday, Nov. 17, as the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) closes a portion of Rinehardt Road for an extended construction project. The closure will take place between Lansing Circle and N.C. 150 and is expected to remain in effect for several months.
According to NCDOT officials, the work is part of a required improvement project designed to enhance overall roadway safety and traffic flow in the area. The project will include realigning the intersection, a change transportation planners say will help reduce congestion and improve visibility for drivers navigating the corridor.
During the closure, a guided and clearly marked detour route will be in place, directing motorists to use N.C. 115 as an alternate path. Transportation officials encourage drivers to follow the posted signs and allow extra time for travel, particularly during peak commuting hours when delays may be more noticeable.
The project is scheduled to continue through the winter months, with the road expected to reopen in early spring, weather permitting. NCDOT is advising residents, commuters, and businesses in the affected area to plan ahead and adjust travel routines as needed.
Further updates will be provided as the project progresses.
