Iredell County, NC — Iredell Physician Network, a part of Iredell Health System, is pleased to announce the opening of Iredell General Surgery. Richard A. Cheek III, MD, will begin seeing patients 14 and older at his practice on E. Broad St. in Statesville by mid-October.
Cheek earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, attended medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, and completed his residency in general surgery at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is board certified in general surgery and certified in DaVinci robotic surgery. Cheek chose his specialty because of his passion for hands-on work and helping others.
His goal for patients is to solve their issue as quickly as possible with the least amount of risk.
“I am a straight shooter and will speak plainly without using confusing or unnecessary medical jargon,” said Cheek. “My job is to share what I have learned with my patients regarding disease pathology, treatment options, and risks and benefits, then determine the best treatment plan together.”
Cheek is happily married and has three dogs: two Weimaraners and one Vizsla. He enjoys woodworking and is a car enthusiast.
