The Statesville Police Department’s expansion and parking deck project continues to move forward on schedule, with recent construction activity marking another major step in the process.
According to city officials, a large crane was delivered to the construction site on October 1, 2025. The crane will primarily be used within the boundaries of the work zone, minimizing any impact to surrounding areas. However, crews noted that during the final unloading stages, the crane will temporarily extend onto South Tradd Street to assist with the placement of large structural components.
Front Street is expected to experience little to no disruption throughout the remainder of the project. Officials anticipate only brief traffic delays at times when construction vehicles or delivery trucks are backing into the site.
The Police Department expansion and parking deck are part of a larger effort to improve public safety facilities and provide additional downtown parking capacity. The project aims to accommodate the department’s operational growth while addressing the need for more accessible parking in the area.
City staff report that construction remains on schedule, and overall progress has been steady with minimal interruption to nearby businesses, residents, or traffic flow.
