The 8th Annual Iredell County Walk for Recovery will take place on Saturday, September 27, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the South Iredell High School Performing Arts Center, located at 299 Old Mountain Road. The free, family-friendly event is designed to celebrate recovery from substance use and mental illness while spreading awareness and education about treatment and prevention.
The program will feature three keynote speakers alongside remarks from community leaders. In addition to the presentations, the event will include family activities such as live music, a magician, balloon artist, face painting, martial arts, dance performances, an art exhibit, games, and crafts.
A free catered dinner with hotdogs, side items, and water will be provided, with additional treats offered by vendors. Niagara Water is donating water for attendees.
Community vendors connected to recovery, mental health, and prevention services will also be on site. Adults can participate in a vendor walk, using a stamp card to visit different booths and learn more about available resources.
The Walk for Recovery is part of National Recovery Month and aims to highlight the message that treatment works, recovery is possible, and communities can play a vital role in supporting individuals and families.
